  1. Mining Career Overview

    Posted 8 Mar 2017

Found this on youTube, by chance. Thought I'd go ahead and link it here. h?v=YaqWmy1Ssf0
  2. Remembering the good times we've had...

    Great Gnome Race: h?v=Vjyk-bc2gno

Remembering SancTuarY City (before Sony destroyed SWG): h?v=xfwFy90YYZo

And of course the goofier side of Star Trek Online... h?v=ubfS01Kveyo

Some of the fanfiction that was spawned (either directly or otherwise) during our time in Star Wars Galaxies: https://www.fanficti... r-Wars-Galaxies

And wow...either Astrus has been doing some SERIOUS search engine optimization, or what, but the first 3 items on a google search of "Sanctuary of Wanderhome" actually lists our website and RSI's outfit page: *

We've had a glorious and storied past, and I feel rather confident that we'll have an even more glorious future ahead.

  3. Computer upgrade complete.

    Posted 21 Feb 2017

So the title says it all. My PC is better than it was. Here's the Old Specs:

    Intel Core2 Quad @ 2.67GHz (4 Cores / 4 Threads / Hyper Threading)(LGA775)
    8GB DDR2-800 RAM
    PCI-E 2.0 Slots
    GeForce GTX 750 Ti (PCI-E 3.0 Card)
    Cinebench Score: 204 @ 34.99 FPS (eww)

    New Specs:

    Intel Pentium G4560 @ 3.5 GHz (2 cores / 4 Threads / Hyper Threading)(LGA1151) [Kaby Lake]
16GB DDR4-3000 RAM (Though with the Low-End CPU, RAM is throttled back to 2133MHz, not a big deal tho)
PCI-E 3.0 Slots (No-SLI Support, However, do have 2x Crossfire support)
    GeForce GTX 750 Ti (PCI-E 3.0 Card)
Cinebench Score: 378 @ 80.84 FPS (almost 3x the FPS of old hardware)

Star Citizen Benchmarks: 7 FPS(old)/15 FPS(new) [Vanduul Swarm Single Player] (Funny to note, in my RL Aurora no less). I'd say somewhat playable...but not the best it could be.

So, I'm going to look at either a 1060 or possibly doing a couple of RX490's in Crossfire. We'll see.

But first things first, need to (still) find another job--or at least create one of my own.

See yall out there in the 'Verse!
  4. This controller might just be...

    Posted 22 Jan 2017

    ...perfect for Star Citizen! c0AAOSw5cNYeUbf

It has dual joysticks, quite a few buttons, and a throttle controller, as well as pedals. Yeah it's expensive, and so what if it was for the game on an xbox, but I'd be willing to bet that a software interface could make it work for Star Citizen.
  5. TunnelBear VPN -- speed tests

    Posted 22 Jan 2017

So I decided to run a speed comparison on TunnelBear. For security and convenience, it's great if you are trying to look at websites that are blocked in your country. But there is a bottle neck.

Here is my speed before turning it on:

I then set it to auto (it defaulted to a VPN in the US). Here is the speed after:
    Posted Image

As you can see, it doubles my latency, An I lose almost 90% of my speed on the download, and lost 40% of my upload.

So, if you want the service, just be aware that you'll lose some speed, and have a greater latency.

But if you want to try it for free with a 10% discount if you decide to upgrade: (yeah, it's not my link, yet).

If you are going to use it to hide your identity on the webs, it's quite adequate.

(PS: this is not a paid review...just sharing the information)
