Often we see someone in fleet chat mention that if you are not in Ventrilo, you should be. These folks are not trying to be pushy or anything, but I can not underscore enough how important it is to be in vent when you are a member of this fleet.
A lot of times, I will see people in fleet chat ask for help, or trying to start a team for a mission or raid and get little to no response.
Does the rest of the fleet hate you?
No
Are you being ignored?
No
Are you valued so little in the fleet that nobody wants to help out?
No
The problem is, a ton of us, especially those of us who migrated over from WoW, have trained ourselves NOT TO READ FLEET CHAT. We got this way because during our time in that mess of a game, nothing positive was ever said in chat. We conditioned ourselves to get in vent and talk with people who had good things to say. That is why this fleet has flourished for seven years, in multiple games and continues to do so today, because we stay away from the negative and accentuate the positive.
I also hear a lot of people saying they won't come in vent because they don't have a microphone. While this will prevent you from talking, yes, you can still listen. Get to know yor fleet mates and when you get a mic, feel free to jump right in to the conversation. Nobody will ever belittle you in vent, and if they do, there is a group of admins always around to moderate things.
So many times I have seen folks miss out on groups for raids and PvP because they were not in vent to hear a simple "Type 1 in fleet chat to join the group." I can imagine those people sitting at their desks wondering to themselves why folks are randomly typing "1".
So again, I can not stress enough how important it is to be in vent and hang out.
We have great people here: Military, Artistic, Scholarly, Professional, and combinations of the like. Get in vent and start making some connections that will not only benefit you in game, but in real life!

This should be added to the Guild Guidelines area in the Ventrilo portion of the guidelines.

"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." - George Orwell
"We are constantly searching, not just for answers to our questions, but for new questions. We are explorers. We explore our lives day by day, and we explore the galaxy, trying to expand the boundaries of our knowledge." - Benjamin Sisko
"I can guarantee you that this guild pushes education and to better yourself outside of game better than any guild on any game..." - Adaren, on SancTuarY of Wanderhome
