Mistclaw96
okay, I was playing Rift tonight and noticed that my frame rate was 9 FPS on minimal settings. I was wondering if there was a way to increase that without having to upgrade my graphics card. I have an ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card. and i already have all other programs closed except for Ventrilo, and it doesn't help much. Zhiv
Ok. I've a Radeon HD 6950 in my system now. Just a single card and I can run rift or any other game at max settings without lag. Here's a 6870 HD Radeon from newegg.com for $160. It's open box, which means it was a return, but tested ok by the manufacturer. http://www.newegg.co...82E16814102909R You definitely want something in the Radeon 5000 series or up to play Rift. Or you can go with Nvidia, I'd recommend something with at least 1GB of onboard RAM. Here's a 400 GTS series card from nVidia. It's got decent RAM and should run Rift on Average settings just fine, or you can try for max settings. Either way you shouldn't have to do minimal settings at all. This particular card will set you back $130 from newegg.com. http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814121415 Hope this helps. Of course, the above 2 cards require a pci-e connection on your motherboard. If you are using AGP or even PCI, there are video cards out there for those slots, but they won't be speed demons. And they may even be worse than what you have. Just for frame of reference, here's my video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102914

When you start moving into some of these later cards, they require a lot of power and if your system just has a 400w power supply, that may not be sufficient. Another thing you need to know is how much room you have in the computer. I upgraded to an ATI 5870 last year and it BARELY fit. It is a honking monster of a card. It took a lot of work for me to get it in the case and I have a full tower case!
